I'm Changing the Way I Do Things
I've made some pretty big changes to the Substack and want to show everyone what I did
I have spent the last couple months refining my data collection methods, and the way I translate these articles, and what to share it with you all, and I think you’re gonna like it.
First, I have changed the subscription price from $100 to only $5! This is a massive difference, and I chose to lower the price by such an amount because I think these articles are of incredible value and worth so much, but not everyone can put $100 into it. Especially since I am still experimenting with different styles and translation methods.
The second change is perhaps the most interesting: I am changing the way my posts are formatted entirely. I started this newsletter mainly because I believe the media coverage of China’s economy is falsified and spun with a narrative every time. I wanted to be different, giving investors a valuable resource to rely on using the raw data I collect online through Chinese archives. I started by grabbing articles off of these websites that looked interesting, and simply began translating them. This could be useful to some, but I really want to target people investing in China (or just people who are curious about world economy), so I have decided to focus my attention on a few important subjects that I will rotate off of each post, like real estate or employment (if you have some ideas for topics to translate, please email editor@ccpstats.com and I’ll try to look into your thoughts when I have time). Instead of translating a single article, I will research online multiple articles on said topic, and search the articles for key paragraphs that contain the most valuable information, and translate them together. This reduces the repetitive and useless content that the CCP is really good at writing for some reason.
I believe these changes will allow you guys to get more specific and valuable content for much cheaper, so that everybody can get value out of this human-translated data. I released an article on recent unemployment statistics using the new translation method, so you guys should check that out.
Thanks for reading.
